3rd Grade Teacher
I graduated from Texas A&M University - Commerce and am certified in Early Childhood Education. I am currently working on my masters degree in Education from the University of Central Oklahoma.
In my spare time I enjoy running, reading, taking Barre classes, and spending time with my family. I race distances from 5K to the marathon. I have two children, Chase, 17-years-old, and Maci, 13-years-old. My daughter is a 7th grader at Oakdale and my son is a senior at Edmond Memorial High School. I also have a mini Australian Shepherd named Steve.
Welcome to my third grade class! My name is Tiffany Cone and I am excited to begin teaching my seventh year of third grade. In addition to my teaching responsibilities I am also the middle school head cross country coach and an assistant track coach.
Family Communication Goals – My communication goal is to establish open lines of communication by keeping your family informed of what is going on at school. I hope that you will always feel comfortable enough to ask any questions or share any of your child’s achievements. I believe that for a child to be successful in the classroom they need an informed and supportive family at home.
In order to keep you informed of school and classroom activities I will do the following: - keep you updated with a weekly newsletter; - post any additional correspondence on the Seesaw app; and - send Thursday folders home each week.
Academic Goals - My academic goals are for all of my students to continue progressing throughout the year and for me as their teacher, to continually challenge them enabling each child to learn to their fullest potential. The class will work on daily Reading and Math curriculum that aligns with the Oklahoma State Standards. All third graders will be tested on the Oklahoma Academic Standards in April. If you would like to review the standards for third grade testing, the following web address will take you to the Oklahoma Academic Standards: http://sde.ok.gov/sde/oklahoma-academic-standards.
I will use a variety of instructional strategies in order to help students reach their academic potential, including whole group instruction, small group work, and independent practice. We will use lots of technology in the classroom. All students will have Chromebooks in the classroom so will we do interactive lessons almost daily and utilize the Chromebooks for some of our stations. Station work is another way that I will help prepare your child for the Oklahoma third grade exams. The stations will incorporate math, reading, writing, critical thinking skills, and novel studies.
