What an awesome experience getting to have a virtual author visit with Lisa Yee! 💻📚 Since we didn’t have school on the snowy day she was originally scheduled to be at Oakdale, we were so thankful we could still connect with her online. ❄️✨
She had students completely captivated and adults laughing out loud from behind the screen 😂. Lisa Yee’s witty, dry humor and incredible storytelling made everyone want to keep listening.
Even through video, she shared her inspiring journey of always wanting to be an author—even if she took an unconventional path to get there. Her story was such a great reminder about persistence and following your heart 💛✍️.
It was also so fun to see the pictures she shared and learn about the research side of writing and how her work has taken her all over the world 🌍📖.
🎨 A special shoutout to our talented middle school artists—Leo Gospodarek, Elise Miller, and Sophia Reeves—who created their own versions of two of Lisa Yee’s book covers! She was so impressed with their creativity and artwork and loved seeing their interpretations. What an amazing connection between reading and art! 👏✨
